Job Description:

The Yogananda Seva Outreach Director serves as a key leadership team member and an active
participant in making strategic decisions affecting YSO. In partnership with Executive Director Staff, this
position is responsible for all efforts to reach and engage YSO volunteers, program participants, SRF/YSS
members and the general public through planning, developing and implementing YSO’s marketing,
communications, and public relations activities. This position will oversee all outward communications
and engagement materials presented through print and digital media, and digital and in-person events,
with the overall purpose of helping to fulfill YSO’s vision and mission of supporting SRF/YSS.
YSO is a virtual nonprofit service organization and volunteer community, providing real and digital
services for SRF/YSS devotees throughout the world. The successful candidate will be comfortable with
digital technology and the constant changes involved in the digital/virtual environment.

Essential Functions:

  • Provides continuous strategic direction for YSO outreach efforts to achieve YSO goals, responding to
    opportunities and changing needs among partners and target audiences
  • Responsible for the continuous integrity and quality of content for all public-facing media materials,
    statements and messages
  • Responsible for continuously maintaining and strengthening YSO’s relationship with the worldwide
    community and clients
  • Oversee management of YSO website(s), including maintaining integrity of website content and
    structure; ability to monitor website performance, observe key metrics from Google Analytics and
    similar tools, utilize Search Engine Optimization, and provide regular summarizing reports to YSO
    administrative staff
  • Manage and execute email communications programs, including e-newsletters and campaign
  • Oversee efforts to broaden awareness and visibility of YSO programs and increase member
  • Serve as a primary media contact for the YSO organization
  • Oversee the management of Member Support Center operations and Volunteer Engagement
  • Ability to oversee planning and budgeting for multiple projects, components, and programs while
    continuously maintaining departmental financial balance
  • Actively engages cross-functional management discussions to create and encourage collaborative
    interactions and solutions
  • Ability to supervise volunteers and/or employees, including listening, coaching, mentoring and
    evaluating job performances

Experience/skills required:

  • SRF/YSS Kriyaban
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, public relations, education, or related field is a plus
  • Proven organizational and project management/coordination skills, including the ability to build and
    lead effective work teams and manage a diverse array of projects/tasks
  • Multitasking is a critical skill to accomplish the variety of goals with varying timelines, budgets and
    staffing resources
  • Familiarity with MS Office, Google platforms, Adobe Creative Suite, and similar
  • Advanced knowledge of social media and related tools
  • Experience with graphic design and website management
  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimal oversight
  • Excellent time-management and organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate with diverse
    partners and audiences
  • Proven experience developing, implementing, and managing educational and outreach programs
  • Experience managing, analyzing, and containing expenses within program budgets
