Job Description:

The Yogananda Seva Operations Director will oversee and manage departmental functions including
Financial, Legal, Human Resources, Technology, and General Operations. This position requires thorough
knowledge of the SRF/YSS vision and mission. The successful candidate, working under the direction of
YSO Executive Directors to identify and address SRF/YSS objectives and implementations, will be
especially skilled at developing long-term operational strategies and leading the facilitation of practices
and procedures critical to YSO during its initial growth phase. Yogananda Seva is essentially a worldwide
virtual community and service organization. Understanding and managing the related technological
aspects is an elemental part of the Operations Director position. This position will also be responsible
for determining goals for organizational performance and growth and for identifying and implementing
continuous improvement in efficient delivery of effective client services, while concurrently cultivating
and perpetuating the primarily important culture and spirit (seva bhav) of Yogananda Seva.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Formulate and/or revise policies and procedures and promote their implementation in tandem
    with SRF/YSS guidelines
  • Understand and oversee the technological aspects of the worldwide virtual community
  • Continuously evaluate YSO practices and outcomes and develop and apply improvements
  • Develop expandable infrastructure systems sufficient to successfully support YSO’s growing
    volunteer and client family
  • Ensure the smooth progress of YSO’s day-to-day operations
  • Assess and analyze departmental budgets to reduce expenses, maximize productivity, and
    maintain YSO’s financial balance
  • Manage relationships/agreements with external partners/vendors
  • Manage risk management factors, operations and outcomes
  • Coordinate staff teams to foster exchange of ideas and provide cross-team learning
    opportunities, providing guidance and correction as needed
  • Collaborate with staff and volunteers at all levels and in varied departmental roles to determine
    strategic and specific operational steps to achieve SRF/YSS goals


Experience/skills required:

  • Proven experience as Operations Manager or equivalent
  • Excellent organizational and leadership abilities
  • Familiar and comfortable with the technological aspects of virtual communities/organizations
    and the constant changes involved in that technology
  • Excellent oral and written professional English skills
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience managing HR programs and operations
  • Knowledge of standard business industry rules, regulations, and requirements.
  • In depth knowledge of diverse business functions and principles (e.g., supply chain, finance,
    customer service etc.)
  • Working knowledge of data analysis and operation metrics
  • Familiarity with MS Office, Google Suite, and various business software (e.g., ERP, CRM)
  • BSc/BA in business administration or relevant field; MSc/MA will be a plus
  • Experience with Nonprofit operations is a plus
